  • DR AJMAL HUSSAIN

    BM (2001) MRCGP DipDerm (Cardiff)

    I completed my training at Southampton University in 2001 and joined the Harvey Practice in 2007. My medical interests include dermatology and I am a clinical assistant at Poole Hospital once a week. In addition to this the Practice offers a Specialist Minor Surgery service which I carry out at our Broadstone site once a month. My outside interests include skiing, walking and dabbling in baking cakes!!

  • DR BENJAMIN TODD

    BMedSci, BMBS, MRCGP (2013), PGCert Med Ed

    I qualified at the University of Nottingham in 2008 and moved to Dorset in 2010 for my GP training. I joined The Harvery Practice in 2012 and became a Partner in 2016. I have a clinical interest in Diabetes and Palliative Care. I am a GP Trainer and enjoy teaching the next generation of GPs. My husband is also a local GP; together we enjoy classical music, opera and travelling.

  • DR ANNELISE LOCKE

    BM MRCGP DFSRH DRCOG

    I qualified from the University of Southampton in 2003, working my first year in Poole and Bournemouth before moving overseas to Australia. I spent the next 2.5 years on the South West coast of Australia, where I worked as an Emergency Medicine Registrar and General Medicine Registrar, before returning to Dorset in 2007 to complete GP postgraduate training. I joined The Harvey Practice as a Salaried GP in 2011, then becoming a Partner in 2017. My clinical areas of interest are Women's Health, Family Planning, and Care of the Elderly, though I enjoy all the variety that General Practice has to offer! Over the last few years I have taken a larger role in practice business and communications. I am the Deputy Safeguarding Lead, amongst other roles. In our time off my husband and I are kept on our toes by our two boys and Miniature Schnauzer! We enjoy spending family time out and about in beautiful Dorset.

  • DR CHRISTINA HAWKINS

    BM MRCGP DFSRH

    I qualified from The University of Southampton in 2006 and have joined the Practice as a salaried GP in December 2016, I became a partner in 2018. I have particular interests in family medicine having recently completed my Diploma in Reproductive and Sexual Health. When I am not at work I like spending my time outdoors, in particular road bike cycling, sea swimming having taken part in triathlons.

    I qualified from the University of Southampton in 2010. I joined The Harvey Practice as a Registrar on a 2 year part-time placement and was very pleased to be offered a Salaried GP role at the end of my registrar placement. I became a partner in 2022. I have clinical interests in Elderly Medicine, Paediatrics and Women’s Health. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my young family and friends.

  • DR SARAH MAIDEN

    I qualified from the University of Southampton in 2014 and joined The Harvey Practice as a Registrar in 2018. I was very happy to then stay on as a Salaried GP following the end of my Registrar year. Medically I like Elderly Medicine and Palliative Care. When I am not at work, I enjoy the beach and spending time with family and friends.

  • DR MATTHEW MENHINICK

    BMedSci , BMBS

    I qualified from Nottingham University in 2015 and joined the Harvey Practice originally as a GP Registrar in August 2020 before becoming a Salaried GP in August 2021. I enjoy a number of different specialties including Ear, Nose and Throat, Paediatrics and Elderly Medicine In my spare time I like spending time outdoors running, cycling and hiking with friends and family and cheering on the English rugby team.

    I qualified from Sri Ramachandra university in India in 2006 and joined the Harvey Practice as a GP registrar in 2020. Medically I am interested in women’s health and I am planning to undertake a diploma in this area. When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my family and am kept busy by my son.

    I qualified from the University of Southampton in 2015 and undertook my postgraduate training in Wessex. I also worked in New Zealand before completing my GP training. I joined The Harvey Practice as a GP registrar in 2021, where I worked at the Merley branch. After qualifying I worked for Shore Medical for some time before returning and accepting a salaried job at The Harvey Practice. I have a special interest in Elderly Medicine and Women’s Health. I live in Poole with my husband, an Orthopaedic Consultant. I enjoy long walks with my dog, skiing, kitesurfing, cooking, and spending time with friends!

  • DR EMILY HARVEY

    MBChB, BSc(hons), MRCGP, Diploma in Geriatric Medicine (DGM) 

    I qualified from the University of Manchester in 2009. I have a specialist interest in elderly care and work at the hospital for 2 days a week pursuing this interest. Time with my family and two young daughters is very important to me and we love getting outdoors with our spaniel.

    I qualified as a doctor from the University of Southampton in 2015. Prior to studying medicine, I read Biomedical Science at Cardiff University, where I met my husband. We have two children and enjoy spending our time at the beach, riding our bikes, camping and having adventures in our van. I joined the Harvey Practice in November 2024 and will be working with the team for a year.

Nurse Practitioners

  • ANDREA ROMANS

    Andrea initially qualified as a District Nurse at Southampton University and after many years in practice went on to complete her Nurse Practitioner Training at Bournemouth University. She is a Non-Medical prescriber and holds a Diploma in Primary Health Care. She holds regular surgeries at the practice seeing a variety of ailments, she is clinically supervised by the GPs at the practice. Outside of work Andrea is an avid gardener, enjoys reading and going to the theatre and walking her dog on sunny days!

Nurses

Practice nurses are qualified and registered nurses. They can help with health issues such as family planning, healthy living advice, blood pressure checks and dressings. The practice nurses run clinics for long-term health conditions such as asthma or diabetes, minor ailment clinics and carry out cervical smears.

Healthcare Assistants/Phlebotomists

Healthcare Assistants support practice nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as phlebotomy, blood pressure checks, NHS Health Checks and new patient checks. They may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one. The surgery provides an in house phlebotomy clinic for those patients who find it more difficult to travel to Poole or Wimborne Hospital.

Practice Management

  • FIONA PICKERING

    Managing Business Partner

    Fiona became Managing Business Partner at the Practice in January 2024 after a period of 9 years as Practice Manager. She owns shares in the Business alongside the GP Partners, working in a strategic role, managing all business and financial matters within the practice as well as the management and overview of all patient services, IT, clinical and Information Governance. She is responsible for practice administration and the efficient and smooth running of both surgeries working closely with the Operations Manager. Fiona has a background of working in the NHS in a variety of different management roles, she joined the Practice in June 2014. She also has a role as Finance Director for Castleman Healthcare Ltd and Business Manager for Poole North Primary Care Network

  • KAREN CUDDY

    Operations Manager

    Karen is our Operations Manager, she has been working for the Practice since 2013. She started in her new role as Operations Manager in April 2015 and is responsible for the day to day running of the surgery, recruitment of new staff, staff appraisals and all HR matters. Karen works closely with the Practice Manager on the financial management of the Practice alongside being responsible for payroll and the scheduling of all nursing and GP clinics.

Administration

We have a total of 3 full time administrators and 9 part time administrators. They are a busy team and have to balance the priorities of IT support with producing audits that are required to measure the performance of the Practice against the targets identified by NHS England and the Dorset Integrated Care Board (ICB). Lastly, as an important part of patients well-being, the team are responsible for data input and maintaining patients records as well as issuing invitations to patients to attend specific clinics in order to ensure the best level of care.The prescribing team are responsible for the production of all repeat medications and work closely with the Doctors to ensure patients have the necessary medication reviews.

Reception

The practice employs 18 receptionists who provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. Receptionists make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses. Our team have received training in all aspects of patient confidentiality and strive to deliver the best service to patients at all times.

Secretaries

We employ five part time secretaries across both sites, they are responsible for the efficient running of the referrals system and type the initial referral letters for the GPs, they are subsequently able to provide any assistance to patients in regards to the Choose and Book referrals system. They process all types of insurance claims and are responsible for production of copy notes.

Poole North Primary Care Network (PCN) Staff

    I have a keen interest in patient wellbeing and offer a safe space in which everyone can be heard, and have the help they need both emotionally and practically to access support in the community and to live a happy and healthy life. I like to spend time with my family and my dog and enjoy walking on the local heathland and beaches. I enjoy dancing, sea swimming and paddle boarding on the river stour, and I love to travel and explore new places.
