Research Active Practice

The Harvey Practice is an active research practice.

Led by Dr Ajmal Hussain, our Lead Research GP, we regularly participate in studies with the aim of improving the health and wellbeing of our patients.

Conducting high-quality clinical research helps the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) to keep improving NHS care by finding out which treatments work best.

In this Practice you might be approached to take part in a clinical research study, taking part in a clinical research study is voluntary but can be a rewarding experience.

Below is a sample of the studies we are currently running. If you have an queries or concerns regarding our Research Studies, or your involvement, please ask to speak to our Managing Business Partner, Fiona Pickering.

Current Studies

ACTIVE BRAINS – This study is looking to assess the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of a digital intervention in supporting older adults (60-85 years) with and without cognitive impairment in making healthy changes (physical activity, brain training, diets) to maintain cognitive function and prevent cognitive decline.

REFLEX – This study is testing a new way of identifying liver disease in people living with type 2 diabetes. Its aim is to compare testing everyone with type 2 diabetes for liver disease against the existing care pathway - where only those with another risk factor, e.g. harmful alcohol consumption, get tested for liver disease.
